Opportunities to Get Involved
GWC Praise Choir - Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30
The praise choir is a high energy group of singers who lead the congregation in worship for services every Sunday and are heavily involved in seasonal and special events. The music selection is diverse and our rehearsals are always fast-paced and fun. No audition is necessary and the praise choir is open to adults and high school students. 2011 plans include services, special events, productions, community appearances, and a recording project.
Worship Band (Rhythm Section and Vocal Team) - See schedule below
The worship band is made up of gifted and trained contemporary instrumentalists and solo-level singers. Instrumentalists include those who play piano, keyboard, guitar, electric bass, drums, and percussion. The singers are by audition only and must also participate in the praise choir. The rhythm section (instrumentalists listed above) meets on Mondays, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. The singers meet with the choir and then stay after for an additional vocal team rehearsal as scheduled.
Praise Orchestra - Meets with the rhythm section Mondays, 7:30-8:30
The praise orchestra works together with the rhythm section of the worship band to accompany and lead the worship for Sunday services. The orchestra also is involved in seasonal and special events. There is no formal audition required, however players are expected to maintain a minimum of a high school level proficiency and will play a wide variety of styles,and in all musical keys. Music will range from easy to challenging and orchestra members will have a great time, though sometimes challenged by the music.
Handbell Choir
One of our unique musical groups is our handbell choir. This is a team made up of musicians who work on a wide variety of music uniquely arranged for bells. The schedule varies depending on the season and those interested should contact the Worship Arts Department at the church for more information.
Major Productions
GWC is pleased to have an active and growing ministry through major productions. Our biggest event is the all-new CHRISTMAS LIGHTS production which in 2010 had a cast of over 100 singers, dancers, and actors plus crews. (see www.gwcchristmaslights.com). Our future plans include production efforts for seasonal holidays and small and large theatrical events. Information about upcoming plans will be on the website and in the church communications. Actors
A pool of actors is maintained for presentation in Sunday services and seasonal and special events. Auditions are required and are held a few times a year depending on the need. Auditions for Christmas Lights 2011 are being held on Thursday, September 15 at assigned times between 4:00-9:00pm. View Christmas Lights 2011 Master Rehearsal Schedule.
Dance Company
We are pleased to be beginning our on-going dance ministry. Our plans are to offer workshops, classes, and assemble dancers for seasonal and special events. More information will be available soon.
Choreography Team
This team is open to students (grades 7-12) and adults who enjoy singing and dancing in our Christmas Lights production. There is no experience necessary, and the movements are not difficult, but members of the choreography team will be very active in the musical numbers as they sing, dance, and use a multitude of props. This team is very fun for those who want the challenge. Rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons plus the full-cast rehearsals listed in the production schedule. Technicians
The Worship Arts ministry works in cooperation with the PowerCrew to maintain a team of qualified audio, lighting, video and media technicians who serve for weekly services, special events, and seasonal presentations.
Children's Choir
The Worship Arts ministry works in cooperation with the Childrens Ministry to offer children an opportunity to sing, dance, and act for the Lord in special events and services. The next Children's Choir opportunity is this fall for Christmas Lights. Rehearsals are on Monday afternoons plus the full-cast rehearsals. Additional Support Opportunities
Additional opportunities exist for people who want to be a part of supporting the worship arts ministry. These include weekly worship office help, music library maintenance, hospitality teams, photography, and stagecraft.
